Crime; It can be defined as faulty behavior that does not comply with legal requirements. At this point, effective regret, one of the most curious concepts in the legal world, comes to the fore.

Article 168 of the Turkish Penal Code contains provisions regarding effective repentance. In other words, the regulations envisaging the abolition of the penalty or a reduction in the penalty in question are included in this article.

It is not possible for every criminal to benefit from effective repentance. It should be stated that effective repentance is not suitable for every type of crime. Persons who commit crimes determined by the Turkish Penal Code can benefit from effective repentance.
Active remorse; It is one of the most talked about concepts in the legal world. It is especially confused with voluntary renunciation. Voluntary opt-out; occurs in the process up to the completion of the crime. However, effective regret; It is a legal right that arises after the commission of the crime. It is possible to explain the difference between voluntary renunciation and active regret with an example. If the person voluntarily gives up committing any crime or prevents the prevention of the said crime voluntarily, he/she benefits from the institution of voluntary withdrawal. However, effective regret; It is a concept that emerges only after a completed crime. Voluntary opt-out; While valid for all crimes that can be committed intentionally, effective remorse is only applied for certain crimes.
