A) FREEDOM (Libertinus): It is the situation of the freed slaves. Freedmen could not become members of the senate and could not enter the knighthood. Freedmen were forbidden from marrying citizens under the emperor Augustus, and freedmen had obligations to their former masters. In some special cases, however, slaves could gain birthright status.
B) INFAMIA (Dishonor): Dishonor is when a person loses his respect in society. These people were deprived of public services and their rights such as voting and being elected were taken away. In time, they were forbidden to apply to the judicial authorities and to file lawsuits there, and they were not heard as witnesses. These included those who were fired from the military, usury, or those who practiced immoral occupations.
C) RELIGION: Since Christianity was spread in Rome and the state religion was accepted, the rights of apostates or people from other religions were restricted.
D) CLASSES: Having certain classes or occupations also led to some restrictions. For example, plebs could not marry particius. Likewise, some of the rights of some public officials could be restricted or they could gain some rights. Likewise, people called Colonus, who we can describe as land slaves, did not have the right to leave the land, they were bought and sold together with the land.
E) GENDER: Women were not given any rights in the field of public law. In the field of private law, his rights were limited. Women’s matrimonial transactions could also be done through a representative. That would be the guardian or family man.
