Family Residence Permit in Turkey
Family residence permit is regulated in Articles 34 to 37 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458. In addition, family residence permit is regulated in articles 30 to 34 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection.
Who are the Foreigners for Whom a Family Residence Permit Can be Issued?
Citizens of Turkey, those who are covered by Article 28 of Law No. 5901 or foreigners who have one of the residence permits, as well as refugees and holders of secondary protection status;
a) Foreign wife,
b) A foreign child who is not an adult of himself or his spouse,
c) Dependent alien child of himself or his spouse,
a family residence permit can be issued.
If a foreigner requesting a family residence permit has more than one spouse, only one of the spouses can be issued a family residence permit. However, all children of a foreigner may be granted a family residence permit.
If there is a family residence permit request for children outside of our country, there must be the consent of the mother or father who has joint custody.
A family residence permit provides for the right to study in primary and secondary educational institutions until the age of eighteen, without obtaining a student residence permit.
How Many Years Can a Family Residence Permit Be Issued?
-The family residence permit can be issued in such a way that it does not exceed three years at a time.
-The duration of the family residence permit may in no way exceed the duration of the sponsor’s residence permit.
What are the Requirements for a Family Residence Permit?
In order for the family residence permit to be issued, foreigners must meet the requirements set out in Article 35 of the Law.

(Sponsor’s valid health insurance that covers the whole family per capita monthly income of no less than one-third of the minimum wage have family that has committed a crime against the order in the last five years the criminal records with documentation, less than a year to reside in Turkey and the address to be registered in the registration system) - To meet the requirements required for those who request a family residence permit to stay with the promoter,
(Submission of supporting information and documents related to the purpose of staying in our country, revealing that he lives or intends to live with the specified persons, that the spouses have reached the age of eighteen, that they are not covered by Article 7 of the said Law, that the marriage was not made for the purpose of obtaining a family residence permit)
What are the reasons for the Refusal, Cancellation or Non-Extension of the Family Residence Permit?
– Non-fulfillment or disappearance of the requirements for a family residence permit,
- Determining that the family residence permit is used for other than the purpose of issuance,
– A valid deportation or entry ban decision has been made about,
in their case, the family residence permit is not issued, if it is issued, it is canceled, the expired ones are not extended.
